2027 Performances

The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare: The Next Generation

Grades 1–3

March 22, 2027

We begin with Aesop’s classic fable of the The Tortoise and the Hare but continue the story which finds them 10 years down the road, now with children of their own and exploring modern day distractions. Smart phones and video games create a new landscape of lost connections to life experiences. The Next Gen features Tortoise Junior and Lil’ Hare in a whole new kind of race; where their adventures lead them into unexpected territory. Old man Tortoise and Big Daddy Hare must come together despite their differences to find and save their children. What hurdles will they have to overcome to make it to the finish line?

With dazzling visuals, poignant storytelling and the creative use of music from classical to pop, this production brings this tale into a new brilliant light

We provide FREE admission for one teacher per classroom, as well as any adult assisting special needs students in attendance.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Covered by generous donations for the 2026-27 Season

TRANSPORTATION

Schools are responsible for all transportation costs. Most districts fund this as a matter of policy. Other schools use funds allocated to their building. PTA or other parent support groups can be sources of funding. Parent carpools may be used.

Upon your arrival to the performance you will be greeted & ushered into the Performing Arts Center by a board member of Shelton Junior Programs.

YOUR SCHOOL CONTACT PERSON

Each participating school is asked to provide a contact person that is designated by the principal. The duties of the contact person are as follows:

1. Keep a copy of your school’s Shelton Junior Programs’ contract to review prior to your scheduled performance(s).

2. Work with your principal to make sure the performance information is shared with the school staff.

3. Share the Shelton Junior Programs website with your staff.

Our website includes important information including live performance previews and videos, dates of performance, classroom study guides, and performance evaluations.

4. Update your reservation numbers (total people attending) on or before the date requested on the contract.

5. Share the auditorium seating chart with your staff prior to your scheduled performance(s).
